No matter how powerful the country is, it still have to be at the mercy of the weather. I have seen numerous pictures of the devastation of New Orleans, America. I feel sorry for them and I an glad that our country do not have such terrible disaster.
This reminds me of 2005 tsunami in Indian Ocean, where more than 20,000 people were killed. The UN has mentioned that the damage caused by Katrina is more than the tsunami in Indian Ocean. To me, it does not actually matter. Aftermath of a disaster, the numbers does not matter. We are not competing on the scale of damage. Yes, we do need to know the scale of damage so we can be prepared for future disaster. The priority now is to help those who has survived.
I wish for America the best and hope thay can rebuild New Orleans and the areas affected by Katrina.
